The plot, on which the residence was built, has the shape of an irregular pentagon and led us to a solution of a building with an almost triangular floorplan, its its acute angle pointing to the junction of two streets.
This house was built for a family of four – a young couple and their two children – at the southeastern outskirts of the town of Thiva, Greece.
The wish of the client was to build two houses on the plot.
We had to guarantee full independence of the two residences.
This 212m² (2.282ft²) vacation house was built on a 425m² (4.575ft²) plot, that overlooks the Northern Gulf of the Island of Evia, Greece.
The residence is located in the village of Markopoulo in Eastern Attica (Greece) near the Mesogeia Equestrian Club.
The challenge of this project was to create a two apartment house on a narrow plot in the district of Kifissia, Athens.
The ground floor is arranged in three zones.
The first zone consists of the large open-plan living room with three orientations. The second contains the two-storey entrance area and the dining room, while the third one includes the study, interior staircase, WC as well as the kitchen and dining area.
The ground floor includes the entrance, guests’ WC, stairwell, dining room area, kitchen and the auxiliary spaces with the staircase leading to the basement. The upper floor contains the guest room, bathroom and a study situated above the entrance porch with a panoramic view of the interior.
This residence is located in the district of Voula, Athens.
This residence in Dionyssos, in the suburbs of Athens, is characterized by the intersection of two rectangular parallelepipeds.
The building, on a site of 1.055m² (11.356ft²), consists of four independent apartments. Two U-shaped ones on the groud floor, measuring 150m² (1.615ft²), and two L-shaped ones on the upper floor measuring 100m² (1.076ft²).
A circular open-air space, 7,50m (approx. 24ft) in diameter, on the north-south diagonal of the square plan orientates the two-storeyed house to the semi-circular course of the sun and creates a private space for everyday life.
This vacation house is located in the area of Mavrendi in the Prefecture of Achaia (Northern Peloponnese), about 4km (2,5 miles) from the town of Aigeira.
The site was selected with the aim of accommodating a house that would be used for both a permanent residence and vacations.
This apartment block is located in the district of Galatsi, Athens.
Takis Exarchopoulos
(born 1944 in Athens, Greece) studied architecture at the Technische Hochschule Braunschweig (today: Technische Universität Braunschweig) in Germany from 1962 to 1970.
At university he worked as a student assistant of professors Heinz Roecke and Dieter Oesterlen.
Between 1970 and 1977 he worked for the architectural offices of Takis Zenetos, Alexandros Tombazis, Thymios Papagiannis and Iason Rizos in Athens and for the construction company Philipp Holzmann in Frankfurt am Main.
1977 he founded his own office, which today operates under the name 'exarchopoulou+gerakakis', managed by Elena Exarchopoulou and Panos E. Gerakakis.
Panos E. Gerakakis
(born 1974 in Berlin, Germany) studied architecture at Universität Hannover, Germany, from 1993 to 2000, where he also worked as a student assistant.
After his degree he worked for architectural and interior design practices in Hanover, Berlin and Athens, amongst which 'Larsen Indoor Shop Design' and 'Coordination Berlin'.
2004 he joined the office of Takis Exarchopoulos, which he manages today with Elena Exarchopoulou under the name 'exarchopoulou+gerakakis'.
Elena Exarchopoulou
(born 1968 in Braunschweig, Germany) studied architecture at the Technische Universität Braunschweig and the National Technical University of Athens.
1999 she joined the office of Takis Exarchopoulos, which she manages today with Panos E. Gerakakis under the name 'exarchopoulou+gerakakis'.
Πάνος Ε. Γερακάκης
Γεννήθηκε το 1974 στο Βερολίνο και σπούδασε αρχιτεκτονική στο Πανεπιστήμιο Αννοβέρου από το 1993 έως το 2000, όπου εργάσθηκε και ως βοηθός στην έδρα πληροφορικής της αρχιτεκτονικής.
Μετά την αποφοίτησή του είχε συνεργασίες με αρχιτεκτονικά γραφεία και γραφεία διαμόρφωσης εσωτερικών χώρων στο Αννόβερο, το Βερολίνο και την Αθήνα, μεταξύ των οποίων η εταιρεία 'Larsen Indoor Shop Design' και το γραφείο 'Coordination Berlin'.
Το 2004 άρχισε τη συνεργασία του με το γραφείο του Τάκη Εξαρχόπουλου, το οποίο λειτουργεί σήμερα με την Έλενα Εξαρχοπούλου υπό την επωνυμία 'exarchopoulou+gerakakis'.
Έλενα Εξαρχοπούλου
Γεννήθηκε το 1968 στο Μπράουνσβάιγκ της Γερμανίας και σπούδασε αρχιτεκτονική στο Πολυτεχνείο του Μπράουνσβάιγκ και το Εθνικό Μετσόβιο Πολυτεχνείο.
Το 1999 άρχισε τη συνεργασία της με το γραφείο του Τάκη Εξαρχόπουλου, το οποίο λειτουργεί σήμερα με τον Πάνο Ε. Γερακάκη υπό την επωνυμία 'exarchopoulou+gerakakis'.
Τάκης Εξαρχόπουλος
Γεννήθηκε το 1944 στην Αθήνα και σπούδασε αρχιτεκτονική στο Πολυτεχνείο του Μπράουνσβάιγκ της Γερμανίας από το 1962 έως το 1970. Στο Πολυτεχνείο εργάσθηκε ως βοηθός των καθηγητών Heinz Roecke και Dieter Oesterlen.
Μεταξύ 1970 και 1977 εργάσθηκε για τα αρχιτεκτονικά γραφεία των Τάκη Ζενέτου, Αλέξανδρου Τομπάζη, Θύμιου Παπαγιάννη και Ιάσονα Ρίζου στην Αθήνα και για την κατασκευαστική εταιρεία Philipp Holzmann στη Φρανκφούρτη του Μάιν.
Το 1977 ίδρυσε το δικό του γραφείο, το οποίο λειτουργούν σήμερα υπό την επωνυμία 'exarchopoulou+gerakakis' η Έλενα Εξαρχοπούλου και ο Πάνος Ε. Γερακάκης.
Takis Exarchopoulos
(geboren 1944 in Athen, Griechenland) studierte Architektur an der Technischen Hochschule Braunschweig (heute: Technische Universität Braunschweig) von 1962 bis 1970. Während des Studiums arbeitete er als Assistent der Professoren Heinz Roecke und Dieter Oesterlen.
Zwischen 1970 and 1977 arbeitete er für die Architekturbüros von Takis Zenetos, Alexandros Tombazis, Thymios Papagiannis und Iason Rizos in Athen und für die Konstruktionsfirma Philipp Holzmann in Frankfurt am Main.
1977 gründete er sein eigenes Büro, welches heute unter dem Namen 'exarchpoulou+gerakakis' von Elena Exarchopoulou und Panos E. Gerakakis weitergeführt wird.

Panos E. Gerakakis
(geboren 1974 in Berlin) studierte Architektur an der Universität Hannover von 1993 bis 2000, wo er auch als Wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft am Institut für Architekturinformatik arbeitete.
Nach seinem Abschluss arbeitete er für Architektur- und Interior Design-Büros in Hannover, Berlin und Athen, unter anderem für 'Larsen Indoor Shop Design' und 'Coordination Berlin'.
2004 schloss er sich dem Büro von Takis Exarchopoulos an, welches heute unter dem Namen 'exarchopoulou+gerakakis' von ihm und Elena Exarchopoulou weitergeführt wird.
